Hello, good evening, and good morning!!
Why is “Good morning” the last one? It doesn’t really matter!
Now, now, now, now, you say there are a lot of them? That doesn’t really matter either!
So, today, when it comes to delicious soba lunches in Sagae, I would like to talk about that.
The restaurant I would like to introduce this time is “Handmade Soba and Yakiniku Fukurou” located in Sagae city!
This restaurant is great value, offering handmade soba noodles for lunch and yakiniku for dinner.
Today, we’re going to tell you, “I want to eat soba noodles in Sagae!” And of course, we also want to eat the Yamagata specialty Gesoten (squid tempura)!! And we also want to eat 100% buckwheat soba!!!
If that sounds like you, then this is a must-see! We’ll introduce you to a restaurant where you can enjoy handmade 100% buckwheat soba noodles, Yamagata specialty Gesoten, and even chilled chicken Chinese Noodle.”
A rich menu that goes beyond just soba
The menu ranges from soba noodles to ramen, udon, and of course rice dishes, as the restaurant has “yakiniku” in its name, so you can choose the amount of food you want depending on your mood that day, making it a very friendly lineup for those who are concerned about children’s allergies.

Of course, there is also a lunch menu, where you can choose one dish each from the shrimp tempura bowl, Gesoten bowl, cold Chinese noodle, meat soba, and mori soba.
Fukurou’s soba is unique in that you can choose between thin and thick noodles.
Although we didn’t order them this time, the thick noodles allow you to enjoy soba that is as thick as udon, so if you’re interested, be sure to give it a try.
Meat soba is good, but the crispy and crunchy Yamagata specialty “Gesoten” is a real attraction

When you think of Yachi in Kahoku-cho and Sagae, the classic dish is meat soba.
At Fukuro, a handmade soba and yakiniku restaurant, the meat soba is delicious, but we also recommend the crispy and crunchy Gesoten!
This is the Gesoten soba.
Fukurou’s soba is made from 100% buckwheat flour, which gives it the original texture and flavor of buckwheat, and you can choose between thin or thick.
As this is Gesoten soba, it comes with squid tempura, and what’s great is that the tempura sauce is separate from the soba sauce.
The tempura sauce has a mild flavor, and it’s especially recommended to dip the squid tempura in it.
Sagae staples: “Meat soba,” “Meat udon,” and “Meat Chinese noodle”
But Fukurou’s appeal doesn’t end there. They also have a wide variety of soba noodles, including “meat soba,” “meat udon,” and “meat Chinese noodle.”
In addition to the soba noodles introduced here, they also have a wide variety of other noodles, such as “cold soba,” “warm soba,” and “tsukesoba.” Even if you’re in the mood for soba today, you’ll be faced with the happy dilemma of “which soba should I have today?”
Of course, you can choose between hot and cold for chicken chinese noodles, too.
Here’s a little introduction to the other menu items!

Fukurou, a handmade soba and yakiniku restaurant, is located in Sagae, Yamagata Prefecture, next to Hyotanjima.
Hyotanjima is a tenant-type store that houses the following stores:
- Meripop, a clothing store
- Gonya, a Chinese restaurant
- Wako, a dry cleaning company
There are several stores inside, and I have been a customer of the restaurant Gonya many times, so I will introduce it to you again if I have the opportunity.
Now, let’s get back to the main topic of today’s article.
When you enter the store, you first come across a step and then take off your shoes before entering in a tatami-mat style.
The inside of the store is divided into wooden flooring and tatami mats.
In addition, in the corner near the counter, children’s chairs, plates, etc. were available for people to take as many as they needed, while spoons, forks, etc. were stored in a drawer on the same shelf.

There are picture books, comics, and toys for small children near the entrance of the store, making it a comfortable space for families with children.
