My favorite season of the year has arrived and I feel somewhat better every day.

It has been talked about in our office for a while. I heard that there is a confectionery store near by that sells banana boats that are more than double the normal size.

I was not sure if it was true or not since I heard it from someone else, so I looked up word of mouth and other things that sounded like it.

I also looked at pictures, but I couldn’t get a good sense of the size.

Moreover, no one has been there yet.

I wanted to see the size with my own eyes before the holidays!

Everyone thought that more than double size was an exaggeration (*￣▽￣), so I decided to weigh it after I bought it!

So, I came alone to the “Ameya”

Ameya Confectionery in Koriyama, Higashine City.

The orange color and triangular roof give the building a lovely appearance.

I also found a sign.

What is Yojiro Yubeshi? Is it derived from the Yojiro Inari Shrine in Higashine City?

I have passed by a few times and I always have the image of cars parked and lots of customers.

Inside is a really beautiful-looking candy shop.

As those of you who follow me on twitter may know, I prefer snacks such as rice crackers and wakame seaweed stems, so I haven’t been to a candy shop in a very long time.

Even though I am such a person, I still have a crush on candy shops.

From a distance, I spotted a banana boat in the showcase.

It was definitely that one!

When I asked Mr. Ameya what made him decide to make a banana boat of this size, he replied, “I thought it would be fun to have a banana boat of this size (laughs).

They are slightly sweet and delicious♪ Priced at only 86 yen each, they are quite reasonable. (As of April 2021).

I realized that I could not share it with everyone at work since we are on a consecutive holiday, so I had no choice but to consume this 400+ gram banana boat at home.

I can’t deny that I misjudged the timing, but since I bought it, I had to eat it!
