Korean Bar SALAN is located on Suzuran Street, a 5-minute walk from the east exit of JR Yamagata Station. Suzuran Street is often thought of as a place for nightlife, but there are many cheap hotels near the station, so there are quite a few bars that serve lunch due to inbound demand, making it a hidden gem.

What I would like to recommend is, of course, the daily set meal. In my understanding, the daily set meal changes depending on the day of the week, right?
This place is different! It depends on the owner’s mood that day! Eh!? Is he a moody owner?? No! He’s a very kind owner! So, when I had work for about two months, I went there almost every day, and if I said, “I want to eat XX as today’s daily special,” and they had the ingredients, they would make it into a daily special set meal! It’s the best, right? (Sorry for the many symbols, it’s hard to read.) Please note that you can’t just suddenly say, “Make today’s daily special XX.”!
My colleague recommended the daily set meal is Cheese Dakgalbi set meal. A colleague of mine said that even though he doesn’t like spicy food, the cheese dakgalbi here is so easy to eat that it has become his favorite food.
He was so enthusiastic about it that I decided to give it a try myself!
I actually quite like spicy food, so I was a bit worried about whether it would be spicy enough, but it was just the right amount of hot, and the cheese was rich and tasty! The side dishes were also great!
