Konamono Stand KONA☆STA, housed in an old gas station, is a restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere. The dondonyaki sizzling on a hot plate and crepes filled with plenty of fresh cream have a simple feel that will remind you of childhood snacks.
In this article, we’ll report on the atmosphere and flavors of Konamono Stand KONA☆STA based on our experience visiting the restaurant, and also introduce some recommended menu items.
What kind of shop is “Konamono Stand KONA☆STA”?
Konamono Stand KONA☆STA is located in Tateoka, Murayama City, Yamagata Prefecture, and, as the name suggests, it is a restaurant where you can eat a wide variety of flour-based dishes.
The biggest attraction is that they offer a wide variety of menu items at very reasonable prices, including Yamagata’s soul food “dondonyaki,” as well as various crepes, udon, and soba noodles!
The shop is located along the old road (old Route 13), which is familiar to city residents, and is marked by an electronic sign and colorful artwork. It was originally a gas station, and traces of that atmosphere still remain.

This artwork was created by students from the Product Design Department of Yamagata Prefectural Murayama Industrial High School.

There is terrace seating outside the restaurant, where you can relax and enjoy your meal while taking in the fresh air.
Inside, there are four table seats and counter seats. The menu is crammed onto the counter, so even after you’ve decided what you want to order, it’s hard to stop looking.
Dondonyaki and crepes are made to order, so you can enjoy them hot and fresh!
If you’re in a hurry, we recommend ordering by phone before visiting.

The recommended menu item is “Dondon Cheese”!

At Konamono Stand KONA☆STA, you can eat freshly grilled Yamagata soul food, “dondonyaki.”
While typical dondonyaki is wrapped around disposable chopsticks, the dondonyaki at this restaurant comes without chopsticks.
Of the dondonyaki menu items at Konamono Stand KONA☆STA, the one I highly recommend is the soy sauce flavor of the dondon cheese, no matter how hard I try it!
You might be thinking, “No, that should be sauce,” but I definitely recommend you try the soy sauce flavor at least once. It’s so delicious that when you think of dondon yaki, you’ll only think of the soy sauce here.
And of course, cheese is a must! It goes perfectly with soy sauce, and when you cut it and lift it up, the sight of it stretching out is sure to satisfy not only your taste buds but your eyes as well.
Plenty of fresh cream! Simple and affordable “crepes”
Sometimes you just have an uncontrollable craving for crepes. At Konamono Stand KONA☆STA, you can eat a wide variety of crepes at reasonable prices. The best thing about these crepes is the delicious batter! They have a sweet taste with a hint of saltiness, so you’ll never get bored of eating them.
It’s a simple crepe without any colorful toppings or flashy decorations, but it’s cheap so you can order it without hesitation! The crepe in the photo is a chocolate banana crepe, but we also recommend the slightly more unique brown sugar kinako crepe.
Affordable and delicious! Try our various udon menus

Konamono Stand KONA☆STA has a wide variety of udon dishes on the menu, so it’s also recommended for lunch! I had the pork kimchi udon. The kimchi mixed with the udon was a perfect match! The crispness of the Chinese cabbage was also a nice accent.
Other unusual udon dishes on the menu include “Mentaiko Cream Udon” and “Napoli Udon.” Of course, there are also standard menu items like Tsukimi Udon and Kitsune Udon.
Summary
“Konamono Stand KONA☆STA” is a charming restaurant beloved by locals. With reasonably priced dishes like dondonyaki, crepes, and udon noodles, it’s a great place to grab a bite at lunchtime or when you’re feeling a bit hungry. There are many other menu items we couldn’t introduce here, so if you’re a fan of Kona cuisine, be sure to stop by.
