“COZAB GELATO”, located in the Sports Park in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture, is a specialty store where you can enjoy Italian-made gelato. It is loved by many people, from locals to tourists, for its flavors made with fresh local ingredients and its location surrounded by nature.

Special gelato made by artisans trained in Italy

At COZAB GELATO, authentic gelato is served by gelatieres (gelato craftsmen) who have undergone training in Italy. It used to be open in Yamadera, but in 2023 it moved to its current location in the sports park.

It is characterized by not using commercially processed products and valuing the original flavor of the ingredients. The moment you put it in your mouth, you will feel a gentle sweetness that makes you feel as if you are eating the ingredients themselves.

A variety of flavors using local ingredients

The gelato made based on the principles of “Fresco” (using seasonal and fresh ingredients), “Materie Prime” (materials first), and “Naturale” (being natural) is exquisite. Flavors using seasonal fruits and vegetables, such as peaches from Yamagata and La France, will be introduced daily. Part of the fun is discovering new flavors every time you go.

A stylish store located in a park surrounded by nature

The store is at the back left after entering from the main entrance of the sports park. Just follow the information board inside the park and you will arrive without getting lost. It is a little far from the north and south parking lots, so we recommend using the west parking lot.

As you continue walking through the park, you will see a large building with a triangular roof and a stylish signboard. The appearance that blends into the nature-rich park is very impressive.

Around six types of gelato are always displayed in the store’s showcase, and you can enjoy a variety of flavors depending on the season.

Taste of autumn too! Seasonal flavors

When I visited, they had autumn flavors like Japanese chestnuts and pumpkin pudding. Each flavor brings out the flavor of the ingredients to your heart’s content, allowing you to enjoy authentic Italian gelato. Enjoying it in nature will make you feel like you are spending time in an Italian cafe.

The price is 600 yen for 2 flavors and 700 yen for 3 flavors. We also have kids’ cups (300 yen), which is a great price for families with children! We also sell take-out cups (starting at 400 yen) as souvenirs, so you can enjoy the taste of gelato at home.

COZAB GELATO has a large eat-in space, so you can sit and enjoy your gelato slowly. We also have a full drink menu including coffee. It’s also nice to be able to enjoy gelato with coffee or herbal tea.

Various sporting events such as soccer and basketball games are held at the sports park. The vast park is rich in nature and is perfect for a walk on a cool day.
