How about visiting this charming café for a little break or an afternoon tea? “Coffee House Aroe” is a nostalgic, retro-style café established in 1983, offering the warm, traditional atmosphere of a kura-style building.
You can enjoy light meals at prices that are rare in today’s world. In addition to snacks, they also offer full meal options—perfect whether you want a hearty dish or a relaxing tea time. It’s a café that feels like time flows a little slower, evoking a sense of nostalgia.
Today, I’d like to introduce some of Coffee House Aroe’s affordable yet impactful menu items!
What Is “Coffee House Aroe”?

Located along Prefectural Route 282, it’s within a 10‑minute walk from Sagae Station. There are several parking spaces around the café, so visitors coming from afar by car can stop by with ease.
Open the wooden door, and you’ll find a space where time seems to flow gently. “Coffee House Aroe” is a classic café that retains the strong charm of the Showa era.
Its unpretentious atmosphere and reasonable prices—now increasingly rare—are part of its appeal. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to drop by casually.

The interior has a warm, wooden feel that contrasts with the kura-style exterior. Soft orange lighting creates a calm and cozy atmosphere. There are counter seats with a TV and table seats—I chose a window-side table this time.
The sunlight streaming through the window and the view of the entire café made it the perfect spot. The nostalgic interior, as if capturing a moment from the good old days, is an ideal place to relax.

The spacious table seating has a simple design, making it easy to use for friends, families, or even work.
Great Value for One Coin! Cheese Toast

A thick slice of bread topped generously with cheese—this cheese toast costs just 450 yen (tax included)!

The salty flavor and perfectly toasted surface, while still keeping the bread fluffy inside, make this an exceptionally delicious item. It’s quite filling and satisfying enough as a meal!
A Must‑Try for Sweet Lovers! Selectable Cake Parfait

When you think of cafés, many people imagine sweet desserts. Here, the recommended item is the “selectable cake parfait.” You can choose from cheesecake, chocolate cake, or matcha cake—and the price is an unbelievable 650 yen (tax included)!
Most parfaits cost at least 1,000 yen elsewhere, so getting a cake included at this price is truly exceptional.
The cake is full-sized, just like a regular slice, making it plenty filling. Vanilla ice cream sits at the bottom, creating a dreamy parfait where you can enjoy both cake and ice cream.
From Light Meals to Full Dishes — Coffee House Aroe’s Extensive Menu
This time I ordered the cake parfait set, but there are plenty of single-item desserts and meal options as well. Main categories include:
- Light meals
- Sweets
- Drinks
- Meal dishes
The variety makes it suitable for any occasion.

You can enjoy the same three cakes available in the cake parfait as single desserts.

Coffee, tea, juice, floats, and more are available.

Here are the cake parfait and cheese toast menus I ordered. There are also unique items like the “rabbit parfait,” various flavored parfaits and ice creams, and multiple types of toast—making it a place where you can enjoy something different each time you visit. Gratin and doria dishes are available as sets or single items, all at reasonable prices.

This is the meal menu. The set menus are the main focus, especially the A and B sets, which include nostalgic items like croissants and coffee jelly.

Takeout options are also available, so you can enjoy the café’s flavors at home.
Summary
Located within a 10‑minute walk from the station, this café is a place you can easily stop by anytime. As you may have noticed from the menu, they offer a wide range of dishes—from single items you can enjoy for around 500 yen to full meals that will leave you satisfied. It’s a café that appeals to everyone, from students to adults.
If you want to enjoy sweets at a great price or simply take a relaxing break, be sure to stop by.
