Since it’s easy to eat with one hand, it’s perfect for sightseeing breaks, a quick snack, or a busy lunchtime. This time, I tried koppe-pan at “Kajō Seipan,” so here’s a detailed report on the shop’s atmosphere, menu, and flavors.

Koppe-pan immediately brings back memories of school lunches—nostalgic and comforting, something you suddenly crave. That nostalgic charm is one of the reasons I was drawn to “Kajō Seipan.”

Fun Ordering Style! The Menu at “Kajō Seipan”

“Kajō Seipan” is a takeout-only shop.
You choose your koppe-pan, and the staff spreads the fillings onto the bread after you order. This keeps the bread from getting soggy, allowing you to enjoy it deliciously until the end. Watching the staff prepare your koppe-pan with quick, skillful movements adds a bit of excitement.

For “Sweet” and “Savory,” you can choose two flavors to be spread on your koppe-pan. You can order a “Mix” (two different flavors) or a “Double” (same flavor twice).

A quick calculation shows **36 combinations for Sweet** and **28 combinations for Savory**! Adding toppings to Sweet increases the variety even more. There are so many choices—it’s honestly hard to decide!

If you’re unsure, check the popularity ranking displayed inside the shop. “Anko + Butter” or “Curry + Egg”… just imagining them makes your mouth water.

Single fried items take 10–15 minutes to prepare, so keep that in mind.

Their coffee is freshly ground, making it a perfect match for sweet koppe-pan. It’s great for eating on the go or taking a short break.

I Tried Their Koppe-Pan!

This time, I chose **Teriyaki** from the “Single Items” category and **Black Sesame Cream × Whipped Cream** from the “Sweet” category.

I visited around 17:15. Unfortunately, I couldn’t order the most popular single item—Croquette because it takes time to fry. A freshly fried croquette inside koppe-pan… that’s definitely delicious. I’ll try again next time!

Kid-Friendly! Teriyaki Koppe-Pan

First up, the teriyaki koppe-pan. Since the bread is freshly made each time, the lettuce is crisp! The generous mayonnaise and tender teriyaki chicken pair perfectly.

A satisfying amount of filling! The sweet-savory flavor is rich and fulfilling. If you’re choosing a savory option, this one is a safe and delicious choice.

Some shops use mustard mayo for teriyaki sandwiches, but this one uses regular mayo only. Since it’s not spicy, kids can enjoy it safely. (As someone who dislikes mustard mayo, I was very happy about this.)

Perfect for a Snack! Black Sesame Cream × Whipped Cream

Next is the sweet option: black sesame cream × whipped cream. Since I love sesame, I chose this classic combination. It was even more delicious than I expected!

A generous amount of cream! I wondered if it might be too sweet, but it was surprisingly light and well-balanced. The fragrant black sesame cream combined with the crunchy texture of coarsely ground sesame was absolutely delightful.

Next time, I want to try black sesame cream × black sesame cream.

Kajō Seipan does not have parking, so using coin parking, buses, or walking from Yamagata Station is recommended.
It’s a comfortable walking distance for enjoying the city.
